Abarán

Abarán is a small town surrounded by the river Segura, in the north of the Region of Murcia, southeast of Spain.

 

The municipal area, with an area of 115.38 km2 (1.02% of the regional total), has a semi-arid climate, with scarce rainfall unequally distributed in space and time. But it has a fertile orchard, thanks to its well-studied irrigation systems.

 

With a population of 12,632 inhabitants (according to the 2003 Census data), it borders the municipality of Jumilla to the north, Cieza to the west, Ricote and Blanca to the south, and Fortuna to the east. Dista of the city of Murcia 40 km.

​The climate is dry and warm, with little but intense rain in spring and autumn. But the river refreshes its fields and inhabitants, who enjoy baths and other activities.
